Ruined seat of House Tarbeck, an old house of the First Men that rose high in its final years through a proud marriage and borrowed Lannister gold. Its shattered towers stand in the hills northeast of Casterly Rock, not far from drowned Castamere.
The Fall of the Tarbecks
When the Tarbecks joined the Reynes in defying Casterly Rock, Tywin Lannister came against them without warning or parley. Tarbeck Hall was stormed and put to the torch, its towers cast down, and the line of its lords ended in fire and sword alongside their allies of Castamere.
A Warning in Stone
The hall was never rebuilt, and its blackened stones lie where they fell. Western lords point to the ruin when they speak of the price of pride, for the toppled towers of Tarbeck Hall teach the same lesson as the song of the rains.
