Sable Hall is one of the abandoned castles of the Night's Watch, standing on the Wall between Woodswatch-by-the-Pool and Rimegate, in the eastern reaches of the ice. Its name recalls the black-furred sables of the northern forests, prized by the brothers who once trapped along the Wall.

Sable Hall was never among the great castles of the Watch, but its garrison held its stretch of the Wall faithfully through long centuries of snow. As the order shrank, the eastern castles were emptied one by one until only Eastwatch remained manned, and Sable Hall was left to the cold, its halls dark and its stores long since carried away.
