Ancient seat of House Royce, standing above the narrow sea on the coast south of Gulltown. The Royces were kings in the Vale when the First Men still ruled it, and their castle is counted among the oldest strongholds of that land, raised long before the Andals crossed the water.
The Runes
The house takes its name and its pride from the runes of the First Men, graven into stone and bronze about the castle. Most storied of all is the ancient suit of bronze armor, inscribed with runes said to ward its wearer from harm, in which the Royces have ridden to war for thousands of years. Many a Royce has died in that bronze all the same, yet the lords of Runestone wear it still.
