The Florents of Brightwater have never ceased to press their descent from Florys the Fox, daughter of Garth Greenhand, and with it a claim to Highgarden itself. That old grievance has made the fox-lords restless bannermen, quick to weigh their oaths against their ambitions, and the keep has changed hands more than once when the fortunes of the realm turned against them.
